Today, I had my scheduled tune-up. I just wanted to let you know what a pleasant experience I had with my service technician, Mark M. He was on time and was very polite. He took the time to do the job right. I wish all the service people I had to deal with were like Mark. I know how quick people are to complain about service, but wanted to let you know what a great job Mark did for me.

Of course, one the first days it hit 90° we turned on the air conditioner only to find it was not working. We called Hallmark at 2:00 on a Sunday afternoon, and expected to get an answer machine. We didn’t, we spoke with a customer service representative who sent out a technician to look into the problem. Within 2 hours the technician was there. He said the repair would be really expensive and gave us a form that showed us the benefits on repairing the system vs. the cost to replace it. He told us it was our decision, no pressure at all. We replaced the system, and our house was cool and comfortable by the time we went to bed that night.

I don’t usually write letters to companies unless there is a problem, but I thought you should know how much I appreciate your service. I’ve never had a service contract on anything I bought (computers, dishwashers, etc.), because I didn’t think if they broke I would repair them anyway. So, when we moved into our home we had a furnace and air conditioner that was probably 10 years old. The Hallmark customer service person called us to ask if we wanted to sign-up for Essential Service since Hallmark had maintained the system for the previous owners. I said no, because I had an inspection done before we moved in and everything was fine. After only two months, I noticed a strange noise coming from the air conditioner and called Hallmark. The technician came out and did a tune-up of the system and explained that if I had Essential Service they would come out twice a year to clean and check the systems, and it would save me money. Now, twice a year the technician comes to our house and tunes-up the system.

This past year my allergies were really bad, so I asked my doctor what I could do– he told me to get an air cleaner. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as whole house air cleaner, and I certainly had no idea that it could help with my allergies. Your representative came out and did an evaluation of our air quality. I was horrified at just what things they found. I bought a HEPA filter and I’ve noticed a dramatic reduction in my allergy symptoms.

Every time I went into our basement I could smell this musty odor, and the air felt moist. Upstairs felt fine. Our technician, Carl came in to do the Essential Service tune-up, and I asked him about it. He recommended a dehumidifier that would remove the moisture from the air. It works fantastic.
